Less than two years ago, The Actors’ Gang visited Richmond with the heart-wrenching stories of Death Row inmates in The Exonerated. Known for creating bold, original works for the stage and daring reinterpretations of the classics, The Actors’ Gang returns this month with another production that will provoke our community into thinking about both local and global issues.

“Deathtrap” at Barksdale Theater: This award-winning Broadway play centers on a washed-up middle-aged playwright desperate for just one more hit. When opportunity knocks, in the form of a former student who sends the playwright the only copy of his brilliant manuscript, the has-been concocts a scheme to put himself back in the limelight. This classic thriller was written by Ira Levin who might be better known for his novels “Rosemary’s Baby” and “The Stepford Wives.” Through Oct. 21. Tickets are $38, $35 with a Ukrop’s valued customer card.
