From Henrico County – expect road work along Parham Road through next summer:
Lanes of North Parham Road will be closed intermittently, beginning Monday, Oct. 1, for work to improve curbs, gutters, medians and turning lanes between Three Chopt Road and Interstate 64.
The Henrico County Department of Public Works expects the $2 million project to be completed in summer 2013. A contractor will work primarily during nonpeak travel times, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Work at other times will occur as needed.
Motorists should anticipate delays due to the lane closures, which will affect both eastbound and westbound traffic.
The work will repair damage caused by wear and tear of the road and the need for safer, more efficient left turning lanes. All of the medians and some sections of curb and gutter will be repaired. In some areas, the existing concrete medians will be replaced with grass medians.
