Pearl’s Cupcake Shoppe has increased its menu from 25 varieties of cupcakes when the shop opened in March 2010 to more than 140 now.
“We started with four home KitchenAid mixers, one convection oven and one refrigerator. We did all of our batters and frostings out of those,” said Laurie Blakey, who co-owns the shop on Grove Avenue with Laura Condrey.
“Now we have two 20-gallon commercial mixers, three refrigerators and two freezers. We had to buy a delivery van last April,” Blakey said.
The shop is named after Blakey’s grandmother, Pearl Gentry Chapman.
