So Long, Purple House
The distinctive lavender house at the corner of Libbie and Monument Avenues has been repainted plain white, to the dismay of some social media users.

this makes me so sad. RT @nwen So Long, Purple House – http://t.co/krZNalZ3
I’ve lived in the Westend for over 20 years and I always looked at that house when I was turning from Monument to Libbie Ave. I used to wonder if their neighbors were angry with them for not following the “Monument Avenue style” by not painting their house the traditional white. I’ll miss it though. My friends would use it as a marker for when they were coming to my home. I would tell them to make a right turn at the purple house when they were on the way to mine.
The house has been up for sale for what, a year or more? I’m surprised it took them this long to repaint it. The paint was peeling and shabby looking anyway. It certainly was a landmark, but … I bet it’ll finally sell!
