Christmas Tree Recycling Programs

Want your Christmas tree to be recycled into mulch?

Richmond residents:

“Bring One for the Chipper” will take place in the lot at 1710 Robin Hood Rd., Richmond, VA 23230 (northeast corner of Robin Hood Road and North Boulevard) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on January 7.

Residents can either bring their trees to the event or drop them off in advance from December 27 through January 6 at the East Richmond Road Convenience Center, 3800 East Richmond Road and the Richmond Southside Transfer Station, 3520 N. Hopkins Road.

Henrico residents:

The Keep Henrico Beautiful Committee will provide Christmas tree recycling for Henrico residents at two county sites from Monday, Dec. 26 through Monday, Jan. 9.

Residents may bring their trees to the lower parking lot at the Henrico Government Center, 4301 E. Parham Road, and to the front parking lot at the Eastern Government Center, 3820 Nine Mile Road. This free service is offered for residential use, not for commercial tree lots.

Residents also may recycle trees free of charge at the public use areas at Springfield Road Landfill, near Interstate 295 and Nuckols Road, and at Charles City Road Landfill, 2075 Charles City Road. County staff will help residents dispose of trees from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through Tuesday, Jan. 31.

All ornaments, lights, tinsel, screws, bolts and other items should be removed before trees are brought to the recycling locations.
