Jackson Davis & Tuckahoe Elementary Win VIP Award from Governor

Two Henrico schools, Jackson Davis Elementary and Tuckahoe Elementary, were among 153 schools in Virginia that were honored today by Gov. Timothy M. Kaine with the Governor’s Award for Educational Excellence. The award is the highest award given under the Governor’s Virginia Index of Performance (VIP).

Several other Henrico County School, including Douglas Freeman High School, Ridge Elementary School, Skipwith Elemantary, Three Chopt Elementary and Pemberton Elementary Schools won the 2010 Board of Education Excellence Award, the second highest award given in the VIP program.

Crestview Elementary won the third tier award.

In other news, in the City of Richmond, Near West End 1st District School Board Rep, Kim Bridges, was elected Chairman of the Richmond City School Board.
