The Grill at Patterson & Libbie is on the way

The Grill at Patterson & Libbie
I drove by the old site of Freckles on Patterson Avenue today and snapped a quick photo. As you can see they are renovating the spot to make a patio eatery called The Grill at Patterson & Libbie. Looks like it’ll be a nice spot. Well any place with an open patio rises way up my list of places to go hang out. I’ll keep you posted on details as I find them, so far, I have no news regarding an opening date, or any other details.

Had not noticed that Freckles was even gone – although my dad will miss it when it comes to visit.
Anxious to see what The Grill will be. Thanks for alerting us!
This non-smoker laments the closing of Freckles. I believe this is the result of the heavy handed government regulation of smoking policies favored by the Kaine Administration. Will there be no more places left for the marlboro-budwieser crowd? Why can’t a restaurant owner make the decision about smoking policy? I liked the old way of doing things where there was more freedom and choice. I voted with my feet if i found a place to be too smoky. Simple enough. I reckon Rose Maries might get a bump in business for the time being.
This is great news. Rob Pettus, smoking is something that affects everyone’s health. I don’t get how you’re blaming the “Kane Administration” because the bill passed through with bipartisan support. It is still possible to have a smoking establishment–the restaurant simply needs to have separate areas with separate ventilation systems…Keep in mind we now live in a society where a very small percentage of the population smokes–it’s not 1960, again. Maybe you should take a step into 2009?
My concern there would be parking. It is hard enough to park for an ice cream at Boyers….but I would love for it to succeed!
The new owners also own Karen’s across from DMV downtown. Great food and great staff! It will be a welcomed addition to the area.
That is great news! Thanks for sharing — I know Karen’s is very popular. Can’t wait to visit.
Update: A fresh coat of peach-pink paint and window blocks is making this place really stand out. I can’t wait for the opening!
I just hope they have a railing to help people up the steps to the entrance and down to the street.
