1 Comment »Have you been to the St. Stephen’s Farmer’s Market yet? This Saturday is the perfect time to go! Or, if you’ve been and love it, why not become a fan on their Facebook page? The market is near the intersection of Grove Avenue and Three Chopt Road, not far from Libbie & Grove and runs from 8 am to noon. Plus, read on for details on special events and the Libbie & Grove Sidewalk Sale!
Richard Nunnally of Virginia Home Grown will be at the Market this week to answer your gardening questions and sign copies of his book, Best Garden Plants for Virginia. Richard is a well-known (and beloved) garden expert. He not only hosts the live call-in show Virginia Home Grown on WCVE in Richmond and WHTJ in Charlottesville, he is a gardening columnist for the Richmond Times-Dispatch and an adjunct instructor at J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College. Copies of Richard’s book will be available for sale on Saturday, and he is generously donating the proceeds of the day’s sales to defray the costs of running our non-profit Farmers Market.
This just in! Polyface Farms, the Shenandoah Valley farm featured in Michael Pollan’s bestselling book The Omnivore’s Dilemma, is coming to the Market beginning this Saturday! Also, Sun Ho Nuon’s group, the Richmond Cambodian Christian Music Group, will be on hand to perform Cambodian music. See another side of our friend Sun Ho, a long-time member of St. Stephen’s facilities staff. While you’re in the area… Annual Sidewalk Sale of the Libbie and Grove Merchants This Saturday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Huge Sale on the Avenues! Each participating store will put extremely-discounted items on the sidewalk and there will be additional markdowns inside the stores. This is the biggest sale of the year on the Avenues as stores clear out their inventories. Don’t miss it!

The Farm to Family bus will be back again this week. We gout a yummy watermelon from the Lillys and enjoyed petting the baby rabbits.
