UR’s Tom Shields to Seek General Assembly Seat in Near West End
Today I got to sit down and talk to Tom Shields Ph.D, who is running against incumbent John O’Bannon for the 73rd House District seat, representing the most of the Near West End.
Shields hasn’t formally announced his campaign, but he’s looking to run on a platform that emphasizes the new face of a more diverse Henrico county, and one the realizes the importance of regionalism to the region’s success. In his day job, Shields is Director of the Center for Leadership in Education at the University of Richmond’s Jepson School of Leadership Studies.
In the next few weeks look for Q & A’s from both candidates as they respond to email questions from me…and from you.
If you have a question or concern that you’d like addressed by the candidates on this blog, feel free to leave them here as comments or email them to info@nearwestendnews.net

Nice to see someone willing to take on Del O’Bannon, but am a holdout until more specifics are included on Shields’s issues tab on his website.
“Emphasizies the new face of a more diverse Henrico”??? Who says that is a good thing. Crime on the rise, increased taxes to pay for more handouts, decaying schools. That is what diversity brings? That does not sound good to me.
Dear Diversity BS:
I agree! Them foreigners are infecting our great white american society!
PS: Could you remind me where this month’s KKK meeting is being held? I just bought a new sheet for the occasion and I don’t want to miss it.
