Cool video, looks like a nice tour.
I know it’s not Segway’s call or yours, but I’d like to take this opportunity to completely hijack the comments and vent that it’s completely unfair that Segways are allowed on the canal walk and cyclists are not. It’d be a nice way to cruise from the fan to the bottom and back while avoiding the Main/Cary Roller Coaster Thrill Ride.
OK, i feel better.
I’m with you on that, Chris. I ride down there fairly frequently and have yet to be hassled, but I’m always aware of the possibility as I cut through.
I agree with every one of your Segway reflections Jonah. My son and I “gave” a segway ride to my husband for Father’s Day (and we, of course, got to accompany him) and we had such a blast we bought a friend (and same son) a trip four days later. I saw so much around the Canal Walk that I hadn’t seen before. Next time you go, head up Church Hill too. Two of us couldn’t handle the cobblestone road up the hill and chose a less daring path, but it was such fun zipping around Libby Hill and riding down with the city skyline ahead of us.
Segways tours are a blast and I recommend them. However, I completely disagree with Chris and John on the Segways vs. Bikes on the sidewalks. First, Segways aren’t going that fast. Second, they are much more maneuverable in tight spaces than bikes are.
