Drive-Thru Starbucks Comes to Short Pump
With recent news that another drive-thru Starbucks will come to Richmond, at Short Pump Town Center (behind the Chili’s), I wonder if it is only a matter of time before the Near West End gets the ever-so-indulgent drive-thru Starbucks.

So lets see that would make 3 starbucks in a 1/2 mile radius and 4 in a 1 1/2 mile radius.
Oh and lets encourage people to exercise less and burn more fuel waiting.
If the one across the street from SPTC wasn’t so dang convoluted to try to get to traffic-wise, and you didn’t have to actually go into SPTC to get to the other, I’d think you had a point about their proximity. Drive-thru makes it even better!
There is a drive-thru SB at Gaskins & Mayland and another one at Parham & Staples Mill. Not exactly near west-end, but getting closer…
Coffee shops are gathering places for a neighborhood, a place of human interaction, a place to walk to. A drive through coffee shop is uncivilized and tacky and irresponsible. Is it right that people die daily in the Middle East over oil so I can drive my gas guzzling vehicle up to a window and order a 580 calorie Caffe Mocha w/Breve?
I’ve been working for starbucks for about 2 years now in New York and I’m thinking about transfering to the starbucks mentioned above. I feel there’s nothing wrong with a drive-thru, aslong as the barista behind the counter makes it right and on time. and to Gray…the correct way of ordering your drink is a breve mocha.
Barista Rah, Welcome to Richmond! We hope you like it here. I’m a former partner myself, and I think you’ll find the RVA Starbucks to be fun and low-key compared to NYC.
