Water Restriction Info Update
The ever-continuing water shortage issue has launched into overdrive with the latest restriction updates, courtesy of the Times-Dispatch.
Here are the latest restrictions/info for the NWEN viewing area:
Richmond (mandatory):
Established landscaping and gardens: Addresses ending in odd numbers may water Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday; those with even numbers may water Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Watering is not allowed Monday. Vegetable garden watering is limited to any two days of the week, between 8 p.m. and 10 a.m. Bucket watering is unrestricted.
New landscaping: Unrestricted watering is allowed for the first 10 days after planting. Watering rules then revert back to the established landscaping guidelines.
Vehicle washing: Limited to one day per week; a hose with a shut-off nozzle must be used. Businesses are exempt.
Fines: A first violation of the rules is a warning. For residential properties, a second violation is a $50 fine and each subsequent fine is $100. For commercial properties, the first fine after a warning is $100 and each subsequent penalty is $200.Information: (804) 644-3000.
Henrico (voluntary):
Established landscapes and gardens: Addresses ending in odd numbers may water on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday; those with even numbers may water Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Watering is prohibited Monday. Vegetable gardens can be watered two days a week between 8 p.m. and 10 a.m.
New landscapes: Watering permitted the first 10 days, then established landscaping restrictions apply.
Vehicle washing: Two days per week using a hand-held hose with an automatic shut-off nozzle. Commercial businesses are exempt.
Fines: If mandatory restrictions are imposed, the first offense is a warning. A second offense is $50. A third is $100 and each subsequent violation is $100.
