Paint Stores to Help Salvation Army
Via a Salvation Army news release:
Two area Sherwin-Williams and Duron Paints’ stores have joined forces with The Salvation Army Richmond Area Command to help feed those in need this Thanksgiving. The Sherwin-Williams’ store in Short Pump and the Duron Paints in Mechanicsville will hold their second annual “Hungry for Color” campaign, beginning on Oct. 9 and concluding on Oct. 22.
During this time, customers are encouraged to bring a can of non-perishable food to these locations, and in turn, Sherwin-Williams and Duron Paints will give them 10 percent off their entire purchase for each can of food donated to “Hungry for Color,” up to four cans and 40 percent. This discount offer does not apply to Duration Interior/Exterior, Signature Interior/Exterior and Color to Go products.
During last year’s food drive, Sherwin-Williams’ customers donated more than 125 pounds of food to The Salvation Army food pantry. This food was subsequently distributed to those in need in Central Virginia via The Salvation Army Family Services Program throughout the holiday season.
Since September 2006, The Salvation Army food pantry has provided 3,245 individuals with sustainable non-perishable food items; such as canned meats (SPAM, pork and beans, tuna fish, canned chicken, etc.), cans of soups, canned fruits and vegetables, dried beans and rice, pasta (spaghetti noodles, etc.), juice, crackers and other snack foods.
For more information, contact Philip Wyant, the Sherwin-Williams Short Pump store manager, at 364-7100, or Jeff Baldwin, The Salvation Army Richmond Area Command’s public relations director, at 591-3818.
