In case anyone was wondering, Richmond City Schools will open on Monday as scheduled. There had been some concern that the schools wouldn’t open because of Wilder’s antics of trying to move the school system’s offices over the weekend without their knowledge. (Like you could really sneak five floors of City Hall out of the building without anyone noticing!)

A court order stopped that move, about halfway through apparently. Several hundred thousand dollars later, the school system is left with a gigantic mess to clean up.
Will somebody please think about the children for once instead of thinking of their own POWER TRIP? I can’t figure out why Wilder thinks it is OK to waste money like this when we have schools that need more teachers, better paid teachers, better facilities, and handicap accessibility. And that is just the start of the list.

It is all making sense now. Wilder’s plan to get the 26 business leaders to change school board out to be appointed (and to his liking) instead of elected didn’t work, so this was his next desperate attempt to control the schools.

Superintendent Deborah Jewell-Sherman invited Wilder to the Richmond City School’s Convocation 3 weeks ago (a peace offering) and and Wilder told the teachers and RPS employees about how he really wanted what was best for Richmond’s children. He reminded everyone there that he was a product of Richmond City Schools. Now, all we need is for him to live up to his word and show the children he can act in their best interest…..and set a good example for them with his rational behavior.
