If you ever encountered calling a city department such as the Public Works or City Hall and waited for a long period of time, your future waits may shorten. According to a Times-Dispatch article this morning, the city is publicizing various data including call-wait times which the city feels helps to contribute, directly, to the public’s view of how well (or not) city officials are performing their jobs.

The public, as well as city officials, will be able to use the RichmondWorks program to check the efficiency of city services ranging from pothole repair to trash pickup.

“We’ll be able to know who’s doing what and who’s not doing what,” Mayor L. Douglas Wilder said yesterday.
