Bond Revoked in Drunk Driving Case
The Times Dispatch reports a judge revoked the bond of Henrico teen Sara Ann Haislip and she was ordered to a juvenile detention facility.
A judge today revoked the bond of Sarah Ann Haislip, the 17-year-old Henrico County girl convicted of manslaughter in a New Year’s Day traffic crash that killed a man.
Henrico Circuit Judge L.A. Harris ordered Haislip to a juvenile detention facility this morning after a hearing that lasted less than one minute.
Harris granted an earlier request by prosecutors to revoke her bond after her conviction last week. She was being home-schooled and being held under home detention.Deputy Commowealth’s Attorney Michael S. Huberman said it is not unusual for bond to be revoked in serious cases after a conviction but before a final sentence is imposed.
Harris last week found Haislip guilty of involuntary manslaughter, possession of alcohol, and driving under the influence. A student at Deep Run High School before her arrest, Haislip originally faced an aggravated-manslaughter charge that carried a maximum sentence of 20 years.
