Alleged Theft and Sex Calls From the Public Works Dept? Oh My!
Comment now »Obviously we don’t know the details of the alleged corruption but thought we’d pass along a story from NBC 12 WWBT about Mayor Wilder’s accusation of said corruption and “an inexcusable breach of security” within the city’s Public Works department. Never know how this might affect our water utilities! In all serious, I personally applaud the Mayor for his proposed actions here.
The mayor cites the recent arrest of William Cain, a janitor at the John Marshall Courthouse, who is accused of stealing from a locked office.
It turns out Cain is also a convicted felon, meaning the Department of Public Works did not follow proper screening protocol in the hiring of contractors.
In addition to the arrest, there have also been after-hours calls made to sex lines from the Public Works offices. Three outside contractors have been linked to the calls – two janitorial services and one security firm.
