Holy Harmonicas Batman!!!
Comment now »The National Folk Festival is offering free harmonicas and free harmonica lessons to the first 100 children who participate in Phil Wiggin’s Harmonica class at the Capital One Family area of the festival both Saturday and Sunday.
From the Folk Festival’s website:
A highlight of this year’s Capital One Family Area is the addition of a one-of-a-kind Harmonica Master Class with Phil Wiggins. Harmonica great Phil Wiggins will offer children a lesson in harmonica basics. Hohner USA will provide complimentary harmonicas to the first one hundred participating children on both Saturday and Sunday.
The Family Stage will showcase talented performers from the Richmond area and the nation, running the gamut from an American Indian Storyteller to a Traveling Circus Performer, reminiscent of the 18th century, who juggles Turkish swords and flaming torches, to musical performances of all kinds. Various cultural traditions, from around the world to around the corner, will be presented. In the Games and “Make and Take” areas, children can enjoy a variety of engaging activities and even create their own keepsake projects to take home.
“The Family Area program is one in which all ages can share and take delight,” said Julia Olin, executive director of the National Council for the Traditional Arts. “The creative, talented staff at CMOR has put together a terrific program, one that’s completely integrated into the overall festival experience. Some of this year’s most unique, exciting performers – artists that no one should miss – will be appearing only in the Family Area. I believe I speak for the all of the festival organizers when I say that well-behaved adults are welcome.”
