The latest phase of the saga of the Mayor/School Board continues with a 17-page position the Board sent to City Council that simply states “We believe the school system needs to be fixed as quickly as possible.” You think?
Del. A. Donald McEachin, D-Henrico, who represents part of Richmond and is running for a state Senate seat that includes part of the city, said yesterday that he hasn’t changed his mind on the need for a public referendum before asking the legislature to change the City Charter.
“In my judgment, you can’t change the way the School Board is selected without the permission of the people,” McEachin said.
