“Bad Doggy, Bad Doggy!”
An article in today’s Times-Dispatch about Shiela Carapico’s dog, named Godiva, a brown-and-white four year old Australian shepard highlights how she escaped the state’s new Dangerous Dog Registry today yesterday. News from Richmond Public School Board’s Retreat
The Richmond City Public School System’s Board recently attended a retreat at the University of Virginia discussion topics ranging from developing plans to communicate with those interested in city schools (:::whistle:: Raising hands over here!!) to developing a strategic plan (always a good idea) to considering an elected versus an appointed school board (got my vote). Hopefully this will be good work towards the end of the hiatus created between the Mayor’s Office and the School Board. Read more >

New Smoking Ban Proposed
Governor Timothy M. Kaine would like to add the restaurant smoking ban on the agenda when the General Assembly gathers next year. A big question is what is defined as a “food establishment” particularly when an establishment offers both indoor and outdoor seating such as Escabar, Phillip’s Continental Lounge, (both at Libbie and Grove) etc. Read more >

A Year Later, The Shooting in Westwood
CBS-6, WTVR, interviews Timothy Johnson, father of 16-year-old Timothy Johnson, Jr., a Thomas Jefferson High School student, who was shot in the chest in a case of mistaken identity while getting off his school bus in November 2006 in Westwood, near Libbie and Patterson Avenues. Johnson Sr. says he feels like justice was not served and is filing a civil suit against the alleged shooter and alleged accomplices.

Bank Robbery Suspect Sought
The Bank of America at 5707 Patterson Ave was robbed around 10am this morning. Police have determined Steven Lowery, 39, was the suspect.
From the Time-Dispatch:
Police described Lowery as white, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, with a moustache and wearing a baseball cap and short-sleeve shirt.
Police said Lowery may pose a danger to himself and others.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000.

UofR Hosts Richmond Kickers for USL2 Championship Tonight
Looks like the Richmond Kickers soccer team have had a great season. It all comes down to the outcome tonight at the United Soccer League’s Second Division championship game tonight where they’ll play the Harrisburg City Islanders at University of Richmond Stadium at 8pm. The game will also be televised (delayed) at 10pm tonight on Fox Soccer Channel.
