Mayor Wilder focuses on schools again
With all the goings-on between Mayor Douglas L. Wilder and the Richmond Public School board, it’s nice to see a good story every so often about doing what’s probably most important: improving the schools for our children!
According to an article by the Times-Dispatch:
This week, Wilder returned to his original plan to build or restore 15 public schools — the same plan he dropped from his proposed capital budget this year because of what he said was the Richmond School Board’s slow pace of closing old and underused school buildings.
The mayor reaffirmed his commitment to the construction plan during the annual back-to-school convocation for Richmond public school faculty on Monday at the Arthur Ashe Center, according to public officials and teachers who attended.
Isn’t doing this for children most, if not all, what this is all about?
