News from Richmond Public School Board’s Retreat

The Richmond City Public School System’s Board recently attended a retreat at the University of Virginia discussion topics ranging from developing plans to communicate with those interested in city schools (:::whistle:: Raising hands over here!!) to developing a strategic plan (always a good idea) to considering an elected versus an appointed school board (got my vote). Hopefully this will be good work towards the end of the hiatus created between the Mayor’s Office and the School Board.

From the Times-Dispatch article:

Some board members said they hope to get in front of the groundswell of criticism from some political and business leaders and community members. But members could continue to be distracted from their agenda for improving schools “if we are constantly in a state of reaction,” Braxton said.
